Where are you from?

I am from Peterborough.

What is your sign name and explain the reasons behind it?

My sign name is just fingerspell JT previously my sign name was ponytail sign as I do have a ponytail!

What have you done in your career until now?

I have done many things throughout my working life. when I was younger I was a plumber and had to give that up due to many barriers. Previously I was a carer for severely disabled deaf people and now I am a BSL tutor for 2 different councils.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievements are seeing my students passing their exams in BSL level 1.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

Have always wanted to be an actor but that never materialised.

What are your favourite BSL signs and state why?

Vee is my favourite sign, why?, because the way you can express yourself when signing it.

Who are your Deaf Role models?

Marlee Matlin when she starred in Children of the Lesser God film.

Anything we need to know about you?

I have been teaching for 3 years now and have developed a passion for it. I am also keen in keeping fit in my spare time and regularly go to gym as it helps me mentally and well being.

Any hidden talents that no one knows of?

Am a very good table tennis player and loves to make people laugh.

What is your favourite thing about being a BSL Tutor?

What I love the best are building relationships with my students and seeing them develop their new language skills starting from nothing to being able to understand on how beautiful the language is.

What is one thing you would have changed to make life better for Deaf People?

By making all entertainments equally accessible for all and having a lot of people in the working world knowing how to use basic BSL as that would save a lot of time.

Any last words for people thinking about learning British Sign Language?

Come on you people come and join us to learn this beautiful language and you will absolutely enjoy learning it!!
